How to transform and upcycle a shirt that you don’t like and that doesn’t fit you. Completely changing it with taste is always better than throwing it away. How to transform it.

My friend gave me this shirt which didn’t fit me. Too wide at sides and too narrow around the biceps. s The best option is to upcycle, transform and change it as long as it is done with taste and good sewing techniques.
But I found the embroidery pretty. I tried to find a way to reshape and transform the shirt, to make another garment and keeping what I liked.
First, I stripped it down, unpicked the fall of the collar
I removed the sleeves and shortened.
It is going to be a sleeveless shirt for summer.
The next step is the length. If I shortening it, the curve at the bottom will be removed. Thus the shirt will be less boyish.
Concequently, the shirt will have more character
Because the shirt was to wide, I removed some value at sides
As it is more close fitted, shape it in at waist level to follow the body shape
Then, I redrew the armholes by lowering at armpit and slightly in at shoulder line
The ideal is to remember the right angle on the back and on the front to guarantee the smooth connection between the front and the back.
At the moment, that’s what it looks like
I show you the end in the next post. HERE
