One of my friend gave me a Pimkie shirt. The look was original but the cut and size had to be changed. The reason is that fast fashion being at the extreme opposite of made to measure.
That shirt was too plain. As you can see, it goes up to the neck and together with the lace, it gives a “choirboy” look. It was too classic and formal.
First, removing of the sleeves. Then giving rid of some lacy trim, there are too many. We end up removing the biais at the neckline because the neckline will have to be redrawn.
The shirt had extra width on the sides.
The best is too remove some flares at the side to straighten the sides.
Flares on a stiff fabric stays up and doesn’t drape well, it stays up.
The next step is to enlarge the neckline. At the moment, it is too closed to the neck. And I want to add a shirt collar in a chosen fabric.
Notice that the line at the center back is here to be cut. Thats because the shirt will be opened at the back which gives some originality.
I chose to add some indian blue cotton fabric. I bought some coupons of that indigo dye and that will go well with the lace and formal original look of the shirt.
