Upcycle – An old Zara Linen Shirt (part 3)

In previous post HERE and HERE, I started a transformation an old linen shirt, adding fabric and changing some pieces of the garment.

That is where I left it.

That is the back view with 2 rows of stip with fringes.

Two sleeves with small gathers at the top.

As there is a lot of add ons, I will only work on the sleeves.

I insert lace sleeves taken from a shirt (see in that post).

The technnique is very easy, just sew the crown of the  inserted on the existing seam at the armhole. It is the same as for the man’s jacket lining. It is very clean inside and cover the seam allowances and other messy stuff.

The secondary sleeve has to be longer to show the lacy wrist.

On the upper sleeve, I sew 4 loops to insert a wristband.

The strap (wristband) has to be long enought to go twice around. It will be more stable and will stay in place when it is not tied.

Make sure that the buttons of the under sleeves and the opening of the knot are on the elbow side.

The wrist will stays in place as the strip turns twice.

Thats all for the moment.

With upcycling, the garment is never finished. I can add more at a later stage.

Maybe more work on the the collar, maybe lengthen.

Feel free to leave a comment with ideas.

Thanx
