We are still on the upcycling project, transforming and reshaping the old shirt
In my last post, I have unpicked and removed the collar fall and the sleeves. I have changed the size, the shape and the length. See details HERE

To shape the armhole and keep it symetrical, I use a pen which is removable with water, or use any drawing medium (chalk, air erasable pen…).
It is important to draw so the piece which is cut out is neat and in one piece.
First, start drawing the armhole drawing a right angle at the bottom to ensure the smooth connection between front and back
Next, draw and cut out. Try to make a clear cut
Then, put aside the cut out piece as we will use it as a slopper to cut symetrically the other side.
Now pin the off cut on the opposite side. Redraw, pin as you like to ensure a total symmetry.
Perfect symmetry is very hard to get and if the right side and the left side are not the same, it shows.
Now, it is time to rebuilt, transform and reshape the shirt
To replace the fall of the collar, I inserted a row of pleats. I have cut a stripe in the biais and made some pleats 1 cm deep so they will hold up. It is easy to insert in the open seam of the stand.
Next, I have added a pocket which I made with the sleeves. I show how in a next post HERE
